“Others work for living. We, as a midwife, work for a new life.”
Ming-Zhu was 11 while she witnessed her mother’s death due to dystocia. Meanwhile she occasionally helped a well-known midwife, Ms. Shu-Jhuang Liu, in town to deliver a child. After that, Ming-Zhu wanted to not only be a successful midwife as Shu-Jhuang but also prevent pregnant women from dying in childbirth which her mother experienced. However, life was hard and there were difficulties she needed to overcome.
“Born Into Loving Hands,” a moving drama not to be missed, shows the vivid story of midwives in Taiwan during the 1960s.
