HERSTORY UNDER THE FLYING FLAG

With backgrounds in sociology and visual art, director HUANG Meng-wen narrates the stories of these women in an experimental way to evoke lost memories.

This film illustrates how Taiwanese women were commodified for the “Nation” throughout the periods of Japanese rule, the U.S. Aid, and the Kuomintang regime. Their love, affection, and lives seem so insignificant that nobody sees them. This film tries to empower these women to speak out and let the audience see their existence and resilience.
