Madame Pirate: The Secret Diary is a 6DOF room-scale interactive VR experience. The story, presented in comic strip-style and live-action, depicts protagonist ZHENG Yi-sao writing in her diary about how she mentored a young woman into becoming a pirate. ZHENG’s motivation is to prove to herself and the world that the Red Flags are a worthwhile enterprise. The young woman in the story represents people living on the coast who are being oppressed by the Qing Dynasty’s corrupt leaders and armies. But the Red Flags are also brutal pirates, feared and despised by villagers and farmers.
