A Fool in Love, Love Like a Fool

Shao-wei is a self-aware and bright teenager with Down syndrome. He takes bus to preschool every day for “The Patisserie Workshop”. On the bus, he always reads his favorite children book “Forest Prince and Mermaid.”
From a miracle encounter at the beach, he met his mermaid: Shao-lan. Since then, his life has completely changed. He was so anxious to share with the author of the book about the mermaid he met. However, the author does not care a thing about Wei, but willing to get some benefits, so he decides to cover the fact that Lan is actually a prostitute, who needs money and help.
Shao-wei is blind about this fact, for he is in love, dumb like everyone else. He sends Lan flowers, reads stories to her, and even takes her home. After knowing the real Lan, Wei’s mother forbids them from seeing each other. In a morning, Wei sees Lan smiles and waves by the sea. And then she disappears, just like the mermaid at the end of his favorite book… “Is she real?” asked by Wei.
