The Magician on the Skywalk

Set in the summer of 1985, this series depicts the diverse and magical life experiences of nine kids living at the historical Chunghwa Market in Taipei — and their connection to a mysterious magician on the skywalk. Fouth-grade student Shorty, whose father owns a shoe store in Chunghwa Market, is already an experienced street vendor who sells items on a skywalk every day. One day, a magician from nowhere shows up with a treasure bowl and a zebra that emits colorful lights, and performs many fantastical magic tricks. More and more boys and girls meet this mysterious magician, and all who witness his tricks seem to gain life-changing magical powers.
