After studying traditional Japanese-style carpentry by himself, YANG devotes sixteen years of his life to build his dream home. He handles the entire process of building a house, from designing a blueprint to acquiring wood, starting construction, assembling columns, tiling the roof, and building the interior. YANG grew up with parents who lived through Taiwan’s White Terror, and has had to leave his hometown at a young age. The film faithfully captures the long process of building a home for his family under the weight of time. One man’s dream becomes a family’s aspiration; one man’s volition leads to a touching outcome – this, in itself, is something worthy of recording; it is a history.

一直沒有自己房子的楊三二拒絕進入房貸遊戲。50歲的他決定自學蓋一棟可以留存百年的全卡榫木造建築，一棟永續環保的家屋。沒有收入的楊三二全靠著老婆開餐廳的收入維持生計，因而成為鄉里八卦的對象。這棟一直蓋不完的房子，讓他們在經濟上更加拮据。等不到爸爸的百年家屋落成，兩個女兒各自有了家庭，離開家鄉。曾經擁有破碎童年的楊三二，真能靠著這棟建築完整他對於家的想像嗎？
