BE WITH ME

Produced by Taiwanese auteur HOU Hsiao-hsien, this film is a project for his long-time art director, HWARNG Wern-ying. It was the opening film of the 2023 Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival.

Art director Faye (starred by Ariel LIN) has to leave amid a film shoot to care for her ailing father. With her father’s condition worsening, Faye leaves her unfinished old house in Taipei behind and returns to her hometown of Chiayi with her family. Back in her hometown, memories of her long-departed grandfather resurface, along with his enduring faith and beliefs passed down through generations. Ultimately, Faye’s life is reaffirmed through this journey.
