Wei Wei, an exchange student from the Institute of History, travels south for field research and becomes entangled in a long-standing grudge with Chen Jin, a temple spirit medium, after accidentally intruding upon a ritual formation. Amid night patrols, pounding drums, and blazing firelight, the two gradually come to understand one another, their growing closeness giving way to mutual attraction.
Chen Jin yearns for a family of his own but remains trapped by unresolved trauma. As the two struggle between faith and desire, a ritual spirals out of control and forces them apart. One year later, Wei Wei returns with newfound courage and reunites with Chen Jin, who has finally confronted his inner wounds.
This love story, crossing boundaries of identity and destiny, ultimately finds its sense of warmth and belonging in each other.
