In the mid-1980s, around 250,000 Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees fled to the Thai-Cambodian border to escape the brutal civil war waged by the Khmer Rouge and Heng Samrin regime, ending up in overcrowded, resource-starved camps. Daily struggles, cultural activities, and the constant threat of shelling and landmines are captured, alongside interviews with exiled Cambodian King Sihanouk, resistance leaders, UN officials, and volunteers, providing deep insights into the crisis and the refugees’ plight.
