Beneath the stars, upon the island, the Black Tide’s hidden currents stir — testing those who lived 70 years ago and those of us today. How did/do we meet the challenge?

In 1950, as the Korean War broke out, the clash between democracy and communism intensified, shaking the international landscape. In Taiwan, the top 1% of elites were drawn to Bonfire Island by the tides of the era. In this world of spiritual and material deprivation, everyone sought reasons to survive. Several individuals on the island brought medical care, education, agriculture, engineering, and art to Bonfire Island, forging bonds that grew even stronger than familial ties.
