In 1950, the Korean War broke out, pitting democracy against communism, and the international situation worsened. Under such circumstances, the top 1% of Taiwanese elites gathered on Bonfire Island. In a psychologically and physically meager world, everyone was looking for a reason to live. They brought medical care, education, agriculture, engineering, and art to Burning Island, developing friendships deeper than kinship with one another.
1950年韓戰爆發，民主與共產兩大陣營響起對抗號角，國際局勢詭譎震盪，在台灣，百分之一的頂尖菁英，隨著時代風湧匯聚到火燒島。在一個精神與物質全然貧瘠的世界裡，每個人都在尋找活下去的理由，他們為火燒島帶來醫療、教育、農業、工程與藝術，並發展出比親情更綿長的情誼。
