LI Fu-ping lives in a village by the sea. His father was a drunkard, so the family depended on the mother doing odd jobs to bring money home. Being poor and suffering from polio made him feel inferior. He would also steal things from people, so it became everyone’s stereotypical image of him. Whenever something was stolen in the village, everyone would suspect him first. After his beloved mother passed away, his life became more difficult, because he was handicapped and unemployed for a long time.
Tzu Chi volunteer, SHI Zhe-fu, also lived in the same village, so he invited Fu-ping to do recycling with him, and visited him constantly to give him a helping hand.
