Deepest Uprising

As Asia’s economy booms, its traditional social order has also shifted. Though female autonomy has gradually awakened in various societies and entered a new era, misogynistic views and behavior remain the norm. Deepest Uprising interviews of a group of female poets from different regions across Asia, including Taiwan, India, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines. Their personal situations, insights, and poems reflect the problems they have confronted in their respective countries, very often caused by government policies and traditional practices. Exposing oppression and hostility against women, the film highlights how female poets struggle to break free from their shackles in a changing society, shaping a new Asian female literature movement and a rich world of new ideas.
