ELEPHANT IN THE CORNER

Inspired by a true event, this film sheds light on the issue of sexual abuse in the field of sports education from a female perspective rarely found in Chinese-language films.

Hanna is a Taiwanese-Japanese rhythmic gymnast who has just turned fifteen and is preparing for the selection process of her last Asian Junior Championships. She faces the pressure of intense training and entrance exams and the challenge of adapting to a new life after her parents’ recent divorce. Hanna thinks she could find emotional support in Rex, the newly appointed sports protection officer, but his attitude turns cold after they have sex. Unable to bear the heavy physical and mental pressure alone, Hanna’s reconciliation with her mother helps her find herself again.
