Hsiu-Yun and her son Ming-Chung are owners of a performance troupe. During a performance, her daughter-in-law runs away, resulting in the troupe’s disbandment. Ming-Chung is unable to pay the hefty loan and insurance expenses, but he gets an idea when he learns from his old classmate that people with mental disorders can collect health insurance. Ming-Chung persuades Hsiu-Yun to fake mental illness and claim insurance money. They succeed several times, until the classmate threatens Ming-Chung for a share of the loot. Out of fear, the family panics and second-guesses one another. What started as an insurance scam plunges the family into a state of fear and murderous illusions.
秀雲與兒子明忠苦心經營野台戲班，一次演出因扮演花旦的媳婦失場，導致戲班被迫結束。繳不出巨額貸款及保險金的明忠，從老同學處得知精神疾病也可以申領醫療保險後，慫恿秀雲裝病，憑出色演技將保險金騙到手。兩人食髓知味，將媳婦也拉下水。三人使出渾身解數，假裝有自殺傾向或患上有幻覺的嚴重抑鬱，分別到醫院求診，住院時更要繼續裝病，不被發現。他們多次成功騙取保險金，直到老同學因分贓不均要脅明忠，一家人為了脫罪，人心惶惶，猜忌、抱怨、歧見越來越深。原以為只是裝瘋賣傻騙取住院保險，卻讓全家都陷入恐懼與殺人幻想裏！
LAI Kuo-an is a Taiwanese film director and writer. His first feature film A Fish Out of Water (2017) was selected for competitions in San Sebastian and São Paulo and screened in over a dozen film festivals worldwide, including Toronto International Film Festival, Filmfest Hamburg’s Asia Express, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and Asia Pacific Screen Awards. Melody-Go-Round (2022), which Lai wrote, produced and directed, was nominated for four awards at Taipei Film Awards 2022.
台灣導演、編劇。首部電影創作《上岸的魚》（2017），為深刻寫實的家庭故事注入奇幻氛圍，入選加拿大多倫多及溫哥華、德國漢堡、巴西聖保羅等多個國際影展，同時為西班牙聖塞巴斯蒂安國際影展新導演競賽單元成立38年來首部入選的台灣電影。監製、編導作品《夢遊樂園》，獲2022年台北電影獎四項大獎提名。
Juno TENG is an excellent producer with experience in media, marketing, and public relations. She was also involved in the marketing of films, including Sweet Alibis (2014) and Make Up (2011). She co-produced and presented A Fish Out of Water (2017). Melody-Go-Round (2022), which TENG produced, received four award nominations at Taipei Film Awards 2022.
歷任媒體、⾏銷公關二十餘年，曾任春暉電影台專案行銷副理，專唱片及電影發行，亦曾參與電影《甜蜜殺機》（2014）、《命運化妝師》（2011）等發行宣傳。2010年成立然諾工作室，為電影《上岸的魚》（2017）共同製作及出品人，監製作品《夢遊樂園》獲2022年台北電影獎最佳男主角等四項大獎提名。
Producer and screenwriter, mostly focusing on social issues and literary and historical themes. Mark CHEN once won the Best Screenplay at the Golden Bell Awards with Girls Win (2021), and won Programme Innovation with Taipei Singer (2018). Films that he produced include Hello Tapir (2020), Hidden Treasures in the Mountain (2018), White Ants (2017), and White Lies, Black Lies (2016).
成功大學台灣文學所碩士，製片人及編劇，多專注於社會寫實與文學歷史題材。曾以《女孩上場》（2021）獲得金鐘獎戲劇節目編劇獎，以《台北歌手》（2018）獲得金鐘獎節目創新獎。電影製片及監製作品包括《嗨！神獸》（2020）、《山的那一邊》（2018）、《白蟻-慾望謎網》（2017）、《失控謊言》（2016）等。
