Exposed to Western music ranging from The Beatles to Bob DYLAN, CHEN Ming-chang often taught himself to play and sing with a guitar during his youth. In the closed social milieu of martial law in Taiwan, he found solace and elation in music, and thus sparked a deep-seated desire to become a musician. Later, when he encountered CHEN Da and was profoundly moved by the mellifluous melody of his moon guitar, he resolved to embark on a journey across Taiwan to delve deeper into the music passed down through generations. Travelling around Taiwan, CHEN learned traditional opera music from esteemed musicians and seamlessly integrated it into his artistic creations, composing a wealth of music and stories that uniquely belong to Taiwan.
