Gold Leaf, a period drama in Hakka, reproduces the glorious 1950s era of the tea trade in Taiwan. The story depicts the journey of the Sunlight Corp., a tea company owned by tycoon CHANG Fu-chi, from the golden age of Taiwanese tea to a bump in the road in the 1940s, when the Taiwanese tea market entered a transition period.

In 1949, CHANG Yi-hsin, the only daughter of the largest tea exporter in Taiwan, was supposed to find a man for uxorilocal marriage to take over her life and the huge business of her father. However, in order to prove her worth, Yi-hsin devotes herself to her debt-ridden family business. In an era where there was no room for “career women”, how can she lead the crumbling company to the world stage through trade wars in tea market?
