An experimental short focusing on women and colonial history, directed by HUANG Meng-wen , whose works have been invited to various exhibitions such as the VideoBardo International Videopoetry Festival and the Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival.

The film illustrates how Taiwanese women were commodified and made to sacrifice for the “Nation” throughout the Japanese rule, Kuomintang government, and U.S. aid period. The nation erased their real names, life stories, and the period they lived in, whether it was a geisha paying off her family’s debt, a comfort woman cheated into working in the Pacific war field for poverty alleviation, or a “flower” with a sense of patriotism. Under the national flag with “great expectation,” all their love, affection, and lives seem so insignificant that nobody sees them. This film aims to empower these women to speak out and let the audience see their existence and how they lived in the “national” context and compulsion.
