It was the most beautiful era. Our youth was intertwined with romantic revolutionary love and bloody and hard-working brotherhood.

LI Wen-qin, the young man from Qiaotou, was arrested and imprisoned for participating in the protest held by Formosa Magazine on December 10, 1979. While in prison, he learned to stay positive and alive by eating saltwater mixed with plain rice, along with his cherished memories with his loved one, Ah-Chun, the times he shared with family and friends, and his enduring hope for democracy. This prison, often called the “Hotel Saltwater,” could confine the tortured bodies of Wen-qin and his companions, but it could not contain their spirits and longing for freedom.
