It is the last match for YANG Yong, a washed-up Taiwanese judoka who was once a prodigy. Disillusioned, he is ready to retire after this last dance at the Belgrade World Championships. However, a fateful encounter alters his path as he falls in love with North Korea’s judo gold medalist Hee-Jin. They are forced apart but manage to make promises to meet at the next international tournament.
To meet again, YANG Yong must win a spot at the Pyongyang Asian Championships. The power of love enables YANG Yong to break out of his slump and make the team. They reunite at the games, but Hee-Jin unexpectedly loses to her South Korean opponent. Dishonored, she is disqualified from the national team and sentenced to serve in the labor camp.
The star-crossed lovers now face dilemmas that only they can overcome. YANG Yong must compete to win and also find a way to rescue Hee-Jin. To save herself from her hellish predicament, Hee-Jin must win gold for North Korea once more. Whether in judo or in life, the two must win to have the chance to love again. But winning is never easy.
