Left Behind

Suffering from a foot disease, Ah-zhong stubbornly insists on going to Pingtung. With no alternative, Yan-bo feels forced to take Ah-zhong there, but father and son drive the whole way in silence, and their relationship is strained and distant. When the car suddenly breaks down along the way, the two return to Mama’s old hometown, the small town of Yuanli.

Father and son have seldom returned since Mama passed away, and they are obviously not familiar with all the changes in the town. While looking for a hotel in which to spend the night, they happen to run into Mama’s sister-in-law. Encountering a relative they have not seen in many years, the two feel deeply uncomfortable. What happened in the past gets mentioned again when people talk, and we see that this matter has caused Yan-bo deep regret for many years. After former classmate Mr. Tsai turns up, Ah-zhong begins displaying abnormal behavior and emotions, and the matters on Yan-bo’s mind gradually unravel…
