Over the course of ten years, Hui-chen and her boyfriend Yi-hao helped the indigenous community of San-ying to fight against the Taiwanese government for their right to have a land. The two ethnic Chinese activists were welcomed into the tribe, got married and became part of the community, finally succeding in reclaiming a piece of land for San-ying. But when the land was given and money started to flow into the community, the tribe split and Yi-hao was asked to leave. Time passed by; today, Hui-chen and Yi-hao are divorced, the tribe is split, and nothing seems left of the spirit that once brought indigenous people and Chinese activists in this fight, together. What happened to the promise they once made to each other? Is there a way this “home” can still exist?
