ORIENTAL BEAUTY

Created by an award-winning Taiwanese team, this epic Taiwan–UK co-production weaves together rich tea culture, themes of female empowerment, parallel storylines spanning past and present, and cutting-edge AI technology.

Love and destiny intertwine as struggling actress Yuan You-Yuan is drawn into a journey across 160 years, where her past and present converge with the life of 19th-century tea master Wei Chih-Yun. Cast in a drama inspired by Taiwan’s legendary tea trade, You-Yuan is connected to Wei through AI technology that awakens their shared memories across time. As Wei’s relationships with merchant John Dodd, entrepreneur Lee Chun-Sheng, and her childhood love Kao Ching-Hua unfold alongside You-Yuan’s own emotional journey, the two women mirror each other’s triumphs, heartbreaks, and resilience. Like tea leaves transformed through fire and oxidation, they endure loss, are reborn through adversity, and discover the strength to reclaim their own destinies.
