An interstellar salvage crew struggles for survival in a future where humanity is marginalized by technology.

The Great Upheaval of 2035 was a perfect storm of toxic politics, technological disruption and ecological disaster. By 2040, global power was held by an oligarchy of twelve Codelords: self-styled algorithm barons who rule the world’s new corporation-states via AI. Codelord Trace Chan — eager to break the detente of his peers — detects an advantage in the form of a self-aware extraterrestrial AI. Trace engages the notorious cyborg assassin Achara to infiltrate the Endurance: a warp drive salvage vessel in Chan’s fleet which is sent to investigate the anomaly. The Endurance is captained by Jack Moorhouse: the exiled clone of Trace Chan’s legendary father — Richard Harlan — who died in an attempt to transplant his consciousness into his younger self. Trace hopes to succeed his dead father by ruling as an immortal emperor, but he finds himself in over his head… with dire consequences for humanity.
