People in the Field

Longdu Elementary School is a hundred-year-old school in a village in Kaohsiung. During the Japanese colonial period, it was a school of agriculture for teaching farming skills. In 2004, a teacher called HUANG Hong-song extended the education from the campus to the fields.

HUANG Wei-chen, nicknamed Ming, is a alumnus of Longdu Elementary School. He didn’t do well in school, especially in math, but he often won in all kinds of farming contests. He looks like a winner in the village, but nobody knows how hard he has worked.

Covering the life experiences of these two men in a farming village, this documentary revives the old values of Taiwan.
