POETRIES FROM THE BOOKSTORES

Director HOU Chi-jan, nominee of Berlin International Film Festival, films 40 unique bookstores in Taiwan with the poetic way to deliver the soul of the bookstores and their owner.

In 2014, the first season of Poetries from the Bookstores was launched, followed by the second season in 2016, documenting 80 unique bookstores across Taiwan. After a decade of reflection, the third season will commence in 2024, documenting 40 unique Taiwanese bookstores. The series will capture contemporary social issues and their representation of the current era, exploring the most liberated aspects of the human spirit through the director’s lens.
