RUNNING WILD

A contemporary Taiwanese film about youth with a modern aesthetic.

Li-yi and Chung-wen are a lesbian couple tasked with the delivery of drugs. They head to a nightclub and run into Chang-kai, who offers them a lift. The three travel south to deliver the package but steal a gun. They decide to administer their own version of justice with the weapon in hand. As events get increasingly out of hand, they commit horrible crimes and find themselves in a complicated erotic relationship. In the end, aside from the naive Li-yi, the other two have their plans. A solitary Li-yi finds herself alone with the gun, which, like her, has been left behind. It’s her first time holding a weapon and her first taste of autonomy. Silently, she holds the gun, and a solitary gunshot echoes through the sleepy streets of Taipei.
