Three young people who grew up together in southern Taiwan, Wen-xiong, Qing-shui, and Mei-xia, moved to Taipei to pursue their dreams. In the 1960s and 70s, local dialects were struggling to survive in dominant media. After singing in night markets and recording albums, Wen-xiong rises to become the king of Taiwanese songs at cabaret. Meanwhile, Qing-shui joins the gang, and Mei-xia enters a local dance troupe, their fates diverging greatly from Wen-xiong’s. As they grow older, life’s challenges come in waves, and they realize that only by supporting each other can they face greater challenges.
從小一起在南部鄉間長大的少年文雄、清水、美霞來到台北追逐星夢，正值六七零年代，鄉土語言在強勢媒體中掙扎的時刻。歷經夜市賣唱，才華洋溢的文雄成為稱霸歌廳秀的台語歌王；清水加入黑道、美霞進入廉價歌舞團，與文雄的命運截然不同。年輕人漸漸長大，人生的課題如浪般卷來，三人明白唯有彼此扶持，才能面更大的挑戰。
