In 1985, a gunshot shatters a dazzling stage performance, exposing a high-stakes web of love, betrayal, and buried secrets. Fifteen years earlier, Wen-Hsiung, Ching-Shui, and Mei-Hsia leave their rural hometown for Taipei, chasing dreams of stardom. Guided by cabaret owner Da-Yeh, they enter the glittering world of live entertainment. Wen-Hsiung becomes an overnight sensation but loses himself to fame and ambition; Ching-Shui is drawn into the criminal underworld; and Mei-Hsia falls victim to corrupt power structures. As their grand ambitions unravel, friendship, love, and loyalty are torn apart, forcing them to confront the devastating price of their dreams in a rapidly changing Taiwan.
