The story follows Guan, a lawyer, whose life takes an unexpected turn when his wife loses her life in a random act of violence. Guan unexpectedly discovers a half-finished novel left by his wife, which is about the story of the endangered Formosan clouded leopard. He never knew his wife could write novels, nor did he understand the mountains of Taiwan. This leads him to set out on a journey to find the leopard and form a strong connection with it.

Singing Chen’s work encompasses fiction, documentary, VR films, and has received numerous festival accolades. Her debut Bundled (2000) competed at the Vancouver and God, Man, Dog (2007). It was also screened at Berlinale, VIFF, HK, Busan and several other locations. Chen’s documentaries detail artistic practice and the environment. Through VR technology, she explores space and movement. Afterimage for Tomorrow (2018) was exhibited at the New Images Festival. The Man Who Couldn’t Leave (2022) won the Venice Immersive Best Experience at the 79th Venice International Film Festival.
