In the near future, Bella and Lucy are a lesbian couple who have loved each other into their seventies. As Lucy gradually slips into dementia—her memory fragmenting and emotions spiraling out of control—arguments become part of everyday life. Desperate to keep Lucy with her, Bella is shocked to discover that the woman she has been caring for is actually a clone—and not the only one. One version is eerily obedient and gentle; the other is younger, rebellious, and dangerously seductive.
