During the period of military administration in Matsu, Dongdong’s father serves in the national army, and has no choice but to take on the mission of digging the military tunnels in Beigan Island. Distressed by the tough life in the island during the period of martial law, Dongdong’s mother insists on taking Dongdong to Taiwan to pursue a better future. Confronted with a series of dilemmas, Dongdong embarks on a journey to scout for a mysterious hidden temple in Matsu, rumored to be the place where one could seek guidance from the god of dreams for any difficulties. Along the way, he encounters a fox deity in his dreams, an eerie being that the islanders dare not to speak of. A surreal dream-like adventure between human and deity begins, expanding into a quest that explores the enigma of the subconscious and personal growth. As the boat approaches the port, will Dongdong complete his mission before dawn?
