The Taste is adapted from the books of Pei Wei, Mirror Media’s Chairman, Chairman Pei’s Kitchen Notes. Through cuisine, it portrays Taiwan’s history since 1949, from authoritarian rule and martial law to democratization and political transition. Blending food and politics, it reveals power struggles, human entanglements, and hidden truths, capturing the true taste of Taiwan and the taste of democracy.
