THE WHITE WATERS

The film interweaves the daily life and the sensorial scenery in Taiwan to create an immersive experience for people to conceptualize their lives as immigrant women.The film extensively captures and utilizes ambient sounds, poetically exploring an abandoned village—a multicultural place where collective memories and hopes are stored.
《白水》是一部關於廢棄漁村的聲景散文，也是近看感官地貌和女性的家鄉記憶，將移民者細微的生命經驗以電影轉譯而成。

The abandoned fishing village “The White Waters” lies bleached like paper, its landscape adorned with oyster shells exposed to the sun over half a century, now calcified into hills. Only the elderly residents remain in the village, accompanied by their daughters-in-laws who migrated for arranged marriages 30 years ago from Indonesia, Vietnam, and China. Hua, from China, is the breadwinner of the family, dedicates years to oyster farming, leaving her past behind out of necessity. Huang, from Vietnam, missed her parents’ passing while taking care of her ailing in-laws, finding solace in planting a garden with seeds from her homeland. Juan, an Indonesian, turns to YouTube videos to learn the ukulele, seeking brief respite from overwhelming family responsibilities. Despite enduring laborious work and uneasy marriages, these women, who share a similar fate, cling to hope, and actively contribute to home-building as more than just wives, mothers, and daughters.
三個異地女子在二十多年前來到西濱漁村白水湖，拋棄家鄉的一切，在台灣落地生根。 曾以為嫁到繁華都市，卻因故留在漁村，獨自扛起照顧家庭的責任。來自中國的長花每日沈默採蚵，但書寫細膩如詩的日記；來自越南的金凰照顧失智長輩，她偷閒泡越南咖啡給自己，想念少女時期的日常；來自印尼的細娟會偷拿女兒的烏克麗麗彈奏。
