YOU ARE NOT PART OF THE CAKE

Blending food imagery, ritualistic violence, and dark comedy, You Are Not Part of the Cake transforms everyday experiences of exclusion into a grotesque queer fantasy. With a visual language that is both playful and unsettling, the film amplifies the casual hostility and invisible barriers woven into daily life, asking who gets to be part of the celebration and who is left outside the cake. As suppressed rage and resentment spill over, the fantasy descends into a joyous massacre where everything becomes fair game.

A girl named Ping faces conflict with her girlfriend Lala’s homophobic and aggressive father. As tensions escalate, Ping is forced to take action to protect herself and ends up killing him. Then she makes him into a cake. This act becomes a ritual of transformation—a severing of ties and a step into a new phase of life.
