After years of hard work, April, a Filipino migrant worker, must return home before her critically ill mother dies with the ailing Taiwanese elder she looks after. Meanwhile, Ah-wei, the elder’s son recently released from prison, comes home only to find the house empty. In these two parallel stories of return, both April and Ah-wei carry unspoken secrets. Adjusting to unfamiliar relationships, they unexpectedly discover that coming back home isn’t the end of their journey—it’s only the beginning.
