The world’s first butterfly highway: A 30-year journey following Taiwan’s Purple Crow migration.

This film follows the epic journey of millions of purple crow butterflies as they depart from Kenting, migrate northward across Taiwan, and eventually return to their birthplace. When this thousand-year-old life cycle is tragically disrupted by highway traffic, documentary filmmaker and butterfly expert Chan Chia-Lung not only captures their remarkable migration through high-speed cinematography, but also pioneers the world’s first “highway yielding to butterflies” initiative, reopening a safe passage home for these fragile travelers.
